Bianca Barnes
Principal Solicitor
Bianca is the Principal Solicitor and Managing Director of Barnes Legal. She has worked solely in criminal law for the past 8 years. She holds a combined Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Social Science, majoring in Criminology and Criminal Justice.
Prior to founding Barnes Legal, Bianca was employed by one of the state’s leading criminal defence firms. Prior to her admission to practice, she worked as a research assistant for one of Sydney’s leading criminal barristers.
She advises on and appears in all State and Commonwealth matters in the Local, Children’s, District and Supreme Courts. She has vast experience in running defended hearings, appeal hearings, sentence hearings, breach proceedings and bail applications, as well as instructing Counsel in all jurisdictions. Further, she frequently advises on and appears in quasi-criminal matters including matters involving the state and federal Crime Commissions, the Roads and Maritime Services, the Health Care Complaints Commission and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
Bianca has appeared in a number of high-profile matters and has been featured in the Daily Telegraph’s ‘Sydney’s best young criminal lawyers revealed’. She was named as a Rising Star by the Doyles Guide in 2020.
She is results-driven and thrives on obtaining the best outcomes for her clients both in and outside of the courtroom. She understands that every client has individual needs and circumstances and takes the time to get to know each of them. She takes pride in ensuring that her clients feel supported and understood during what is often the most difficult time of their lives.
